double exposures

Scans from negatives - 2010

I shot these with a Mamiya C33 medium format film camera. I would take the action shot first, then reload the shutter without moving the film inside the camera. Right after I would shoot the portrait on site, calculating how the two would merge. Whatever is bright will erase the other picture, and vice versa. You have to calculate left/right mirrored viewfinder as well as lens parallax. I kept that camera with me all winter for this series. The idea was to represent a snowboarder in one picture only.
